A few things to know before you dive in:

  • Some drives are long, but when the “road trip views” are glaciers, turquoise lakes, and the tallest mountains on earth… who’s complaining?
  • Altitude is real, so go easy, hydrate lots, and embrace the slower rhythm of highland life—it’s all part of the adventure.
  • Temples and monasteries are sacred—bring modest clothes (and maybe a scarf) so you can step inside with respect (and style!).
  • Wi-Fi? Sometimes. Hot showers? Usually. Epic memories that will outlast any creature comfort? 100% guaranteed.

So if you’re craving a trip that mixes jaw-dropping landscapes, ancient traditions, and a splash of “heck yeah, I did that!” energy—then Pure Tibet is calling.  Book now with just USD 99, and let Travel Empowers take you straight to the top of the world!

TRIP FAQs

You’ll be welcomed into a comfortable, locally operated hotel that offers clean rooms and basic amenities. While not luxurious, the accommodation is cozy and perfectly suited for Tibet’s high-altitude environment. The focus is on comfort, rest, and a warm Tibetan atmosphere as you settle in and adjust to the altitude.

Wi-Fi is available in most larger towns such as Lhasa and Shigatse, though connections can be slow. In more remote areas, internet access is limited or unavailable. This is part of the Tibetan experience—embracing the mountains, landscapes, and local culture without too much digital distraction.

Most walks on this trip are short to moderate, though the high altitude can make them feel more challenging. You’ll cross mountain passes of 4,500–5,000 meters, with Everest Base Camp being one of the highest points. It’s important to take it slow, stay hydrated, and give yourself time to acclimatize—our itinerary is paced with this in mind.

The Pure Tibet tour is guaranteed to run with a minimum of just two travelers. This ensures intimate group sizes while still allowing for meaningful shared experiences with like-minded adventurers.

Yes, you’ll need a Chinese visa as well as a Tibet Travel Permit. Travel Empowers will arrange all the necessary permits for you, and the permit will be delivered directly to your hotel in mainland China (Beijing, Chengdu, Xining, or another designated city).

Because Tibet sits at high altitudes, it’s important to consult your doctor before traveling. Bring any personal medication, and be mindful of altitude-related issues such as headaches, fatigue, or shortness of breath. The best approach is to take it slow, rest as needed, and allow your body to adjust gradually.

Occasionally, weather conditions, road closures, or government regulations may cause delays. Should this happen, our experienced team will make the necessary adjustments to keep your journey safe and enjoyable. Flexibility is key when traveling in such a unique and remote region.

In the unlikely event of a cancellation due to factors beyond our control (such as weather, illness, or government restrictions), refunds will be handled according to the Travel Empowers cancellation policy. We encourage you to review this policy before booking.

Individual spending habits vary, but in Tibet you can expect to need about USD 25–35 per day on average for meals, snacks, drinks, and small personal expenses not covered in the tour. A more detailed spending guide will be included in your welcome pack to help you plan. ATMs are available in larger towns such as Lhasa and Shigatse, though they can sometimes be unreliable, so it’s wise to carry some cash ( USD or Chinese Yuan) for convenience, especially in remote areas.

Tipping in Tibet is not compulsory but is considered a thoughtful way to show appreciation to drivers, hotel staff, and local guides who work hard to make your experience special and in restaurants is  usually 10% of the total bill . To keep things simple, your Travel Empowers tour leader will recommend an appropriate guideline for tipping, and the group can contribute to a communal fund or “kitty.” This ensures tips are fair, hassle-free, and shared equally across all the wonderful people who help along the way.

Accommodation is based on twin or double-share rooms. If you’re traveling with a partner or friend, please let us know in advance so we can arrange for you to share. Solo travelers will be paired with another traveler of the same gender. A single supplement is available if you prefer your own room.

Yes, we’ll do our very best to accommodate your dietary needs. In larger cities like Lhasa and Shigatse, vegetarian options are widely available, and some restaurants can cater to vegan or gluten-free diets if notified in advance. However, in more remote areas, meal choices can be basic, with a heavier focus on noodle dishes, rice, vegetables, and yak-based products (butter, cheese, or meat). We recommend letting Travel Empowers know your requirements at the time of booking so we can prepare accordingly. Bringing along some of your own snacks (like protein bars, nuts, or gluten-free items) is also a great idea to ensure you always have something suitable on hand.

Yes, comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory. Your policy should cover medical expenses, personal accidents, emergency evacuation, trip interruption, and personal liability. We also strongly recommend that it includes coverage for cancellations, curtailments, and lost luggage.

Travel light, carry layered clothing, and keep an open mind. Tibet is as much about its landscapes and spirituality as it is about adapting to life in the mountains. Flexibility, patience, and a spirit of adventure will ensure you have a truly rewarding journey.

We loved that all our guides were locals with personal connections to the cities we visited. Their insights and stories added so much depth to our journey. It was incredibly convenient that all entrance fees and tickets were included in the package. Not having to wait in queues saved us a lot of valuable time. Unlike previous tours where hidden costs piled up, we appreciated your transparent approach. The upfront pricing made budgeting much easier for us. The itinerary struck a perfect balance between popular tourist cities and quieter, more serene places, allowing us to experience both sides of India. The accommodations were exceptional, especially the heritage hotels which offered a unique charm and character that we preferred over Western-style hotels. A special mention goes to our driver, Mr. Neghi. His friendly demeanor, openness, and exceptional care made our journeys safe and enjoyable. We truly felt at ease with him behind the wheel. We will definitely miss the delicious Indian food! It was a culinary delight at every meal.
