THINGS to know

ATM,MONEY CHANGER

Every traveler has their own unique spending style—some of us enjoy sipping on cocktails, while others love hunting for the perfect souvenir. So, keep your habits in mind when planning for drinks, shopping, and tipping. Here are some fun tips to make your trip even smoother:

  1. ATM Adventures :  You’ll find plenty of ATMs that take Visa and Mastercard, but they like to hang out in major cities. So, if you’re heading off the beaten path, plan ahead!
  2. Cash is King : We suggest carrying cash and travelers cheques in good ol’ USD. It’s always handy to have some greenbacks on hand.
  3. Credit Card Caution :  Major credit cards are your friends in most shops, but watch out for that sneaky 2-4% transaction fee. It can add up!

Happy travels, and may your adventures be as unique as you are!

What to wear

Traveling to Nepal is like stepping into an adventure novel, so why not dress the part? Here’s your fun and stylish guide to dressing like a savvy traveler in the land of the Himalayas:

  1. Mountain Chic Layers: Imagine yourself as an intrepid explorer, layering up for unpredictable weather. Think cozy fleece jackets and sleek windbreakers during the day, and warm, snuggly sweaters for those cool mountain evenings. You’ll be ready for anything from sunlit hikes to spontaneous snowball fights!
  2. Temple Etiquette with a Twist: Visiting sacred sites? Channel your inner Indiana Jones but with a touch more modesty. Ladies, rock those flowy skirts and loose pants, paired with colorful scarves to cover your shoulders. Gents, those cargo pants and breathable tees will have you blending in perfectly. Just remember to pack a scarf or shawl – it’s your golden ticket into temples!
  3. Footwear Fantasia: Whether you’re strolling through Kathmandu’s bustling markets or trekking up to Everest Base Camp, comfy shoes are your best friends. Sport some sturdy hiking boots for those rugged trails, and switch to cool, cushioned sandals when you’re exploring cities and villages.
  4. Weather-Wise Wardrobe: The weather in Nepal loves to keep you guessing, so be prepared! A lightweight, waterproof jacket will be your hero during the monsoon season, while a sun hat and shades will have you looking effortlessly cool in the summer sun. And don’t forget those thermal layers for the crisp, high-altitude air.
  5. Cultural Couture: Embrace the local vibe by mixing in some Nepali flair. Pick up a traditional kurta or a hand-woven shawl from the local markets. Not only will you look fabulous, but you’ll also support local artisans and get a great conversation starter!

TIPPING

Tipping isn’t mandatory, but in some places like India, it’s pretty much expected from travelers. It’s important to know that tips make up a significant portion of the salary for many folks working in the hospitality industry. So, when you’re enjoying that delicious meal or excellent service, remember that a little extra can go a long way for those helping to make your trip memorable!

Guidelines

  • Approximately 10% is what we recommend for the restaurant waiters if you’ve had an excellent  meal .
  • When considering tipping for drivers and local guides, a common guideline is to allocate @between USD 1-2 per person per day, taking into account the quality and duration of the service provided. However, it’s important to consult your Tour leader for tailored recommendations that align with the specific circumstances and cultural norms of the destination you’re visiting.
  • At the conclusion of your journey, if you believe your Travel Empowers Tour leader has excelled in their role, showing appreciation through tipping is welcomed. The actual amount is entirely at your discretion; nonetheless, as a reference point, a suggested range of USD 20-30 per person per week can be considered.

We loved that all our guides were locals with personal connections to the cities we visited. Their insights and stories added so much depth to our journey. It was incredibly convenient that all entrance fees and tickets were included in the package. Not having to wait in queues saved us a lot of valuable time. Unlike previous tours where hidden costs piled up, we appreciated your transparent approach. The upfront pricing made budgeting much easier for us. The itinerary struck a perfect balance between popular tourist cities and quieter, more serene places, allowing us to experience both sides of India. The accommodations were exceptional, especially the heritage hotels which offered a unique charm and character that we preferred over Western-style hotels. A special mention goes to our driver, Mr. Neghi. His friendly demeanor, openness, and exceptional care made our journeys safe and enjoyable. We truly felt at ease with him behind the wheel. We will definitely miss the delicious Indian food! It was a culinary delight at every meal. Thank you for your meticulous planning and flexibility in tailoring the trip to our preferences. Knowing that we could reach out to you at any time with questions or requests added an extra level of comfort throughout our travels.

As an older traveler, I was initially apprehensive about embarking on such an extensive trip. However, from the moment I booked with Travel Empowers, all my worries were put to rest. Her passion and enthusiasm were contagious, making every moment of the trip enjoyable and enriching.
The highlights of India, from the awe-inspiring Taj Mahal to the vibrant streets of Jaipur, were beyond my wildest dreams. In Nepal, the serene beauty of the landscapes and the spiritual atmosphere of places like Boudhanath Stupa left a profound impact on me. Each destination was thoughtfully chosen and offered unique experiences that I will cherish forever.
The accommodations were comfortable and welcoming, providing the perfect blend of luxury and local charm. The itinerary was well-paced, allowing for both exploration and relaxation, which was particularly appreciated given my age.
